Handmade Gifts for the Holidays: Sewing

Posted on

As the holidays are approaching, we thought it would be fun to share a few handmade gift ideas. We've rounded up a selection of cheerful little projects for the sewing enthusiasts. Happy making!

Clockwise from top left: Liberty Christmas Baubles from Alice Caroline; DIY Fabric Headband from Polka Dot Chair; Liberty Christmas Wreath from Alice Caroline; Katie Book Sleeve Pattern from Clover & Violet; and Butterfly Wings Pattern from Wife-Made.

For quick and easy projects, we're loving Alice Caroline's gorgeous ornaments and floral wreath. These festive decorations are sure to brighten up your home! Hair accessories, such as Polka Dot Chair's DIY fabric headband and Sweet Red Poppy's hair scrunchies with bows (see below), are simple to make and a fantastic way to use up fabrics in your stash.

Handmade books sleeves make such thoughtful gifts. Clover & Violet's pattern is designed for beginners and features two sizes. For the little ones in your life, handmade butterfly wings (Wife-Made also offers a pattern for dragon wings!) are great for creative and imaginative play.

Clockwise from top left: Cloth Napkins from Suzy Quilts; Floral Scrunchies with Bows from Sweet Red Poppy; Fabric Key Fobs from Woodberry Way; Sunglasses Case from Melly Sews; and Paladin Pouch Pattern from Sew Sweetness.

Suzy Quilts' DIY cloth napkin tutorial is excellent for beginners. We think these cloth napkins are a perfect way to showcase a special fabric or add some flair to your holiday table. Check out Suzy's wonderful tutorials for more gift ideas!

Finally, handmade fabric key fob wristlets, glasses cases, and pouches are such practical and pretty presents. We especially love the multiple compartments in Sew Sweetness's Paladin Pouch Pattern, and Polka Dot Chair's versatile zippered pouch with flat bottom.
